Ubuntu for Android - Two Kinds of Linux On Your Phone

Ubuntu Phone - Issues And Opportunities (respose to above talk)

This is really a great project. I just hope that the tooling will be really up to the task, but now this seems still missing a lot of love. I gave a look at the preview SDK, the idea to use gtk+, learn qml (which is a scripting language!) or use C# (with the gtk+ binding!) and no Java (but that's probably just me...). Sure, enabling those technologies is important to leverage the existing applications. But there are few differences between a small screen and a huge one, a laptop ad a phone.

Linus Torvalds: Why Linux Is Not Successful On Dektop
Ubuntu for Android - Two Kinds of Linux On Your Phone
OpenGL is a viable alternative to DirectX. Also when games become software as a service e.g. the games are run on large clusters I think there is a real chance that they will stick with a system who scales well. I do agree that Microsoft has the advantage as a play platform but I think things are about to change (for real this time).

well according to my experience: i have played team fortress, oil rush, counter strike:source, trine 2. (all except from oild rush are from steam). all of them were running way too slow compared to windows. Team fortress was hardy playable at lowest possible settings but on windows i could play with 60 fps at medium. I have an amd 6450. So as you said they are virtually identical :).
Ps: just to let you know i did that with the use of fglrx. (radeon open source driver wasnt compatible anyway
