Marsh Harrier & Long Tailed Duck - RSPB Leighton Moss-(short version)
Taken from the lower hide at Leighton Moss 2 weeks ago- this footage shows a Marsh Harrier trying to catch a long tailed duck which be seen surfacing occasionally gasping for air. Keep watching the water below the harrier The harrier spent 25 mins hovering and diving amazing energy expended. I've shortened the footage to around 3 mins. Eventually a crow came along harassed the harrier both flew off leaving the duck to surface shake its feathers and fly off- saved by the crow. I think the duck was female still in summer plumage. Amazing sight and one lucky duck thanks to the crow.
