Columbus Monument, Barcelona

The Columbus Monument (Catalan: Monument a Colom, IPA: [munuˈment ə kuˈɫom]; Spanish: Monumento a Colón or Mirador de Colón) is a 60 m (197 ft) tall monument for Christopher Columbus at the lower end of La Rambla, Barcelona, Spain. It was constructed for the Exposición Universal de Barcelona (1888) and is located at the site where Columbus returned to Spain after his first voyage to the Americas.[1] The monument serves as a reminder that Barcelona is where Christopher Columbus reported to Queen Isabella and Ferdinand after Columbus' most famous trip.

The Columbus Monument (Monument a Colom in Catalan, also known as the Monumento a Colon and Mirador de Colon in Spanish) is a 60 m (197 ft) tall monument for Christopher Columbus at the lower end of La Rambla, Barcelona, Spain, Europe. It was constructed for the Exposici??n Universal de Barcelona (1888) and is located at the site where Columbus returned to Spain after his first voyage to the Americas. The monument serves as a reminder that Barcelona is where Christopher Columbus reported to Queen Isabella and Ferdinand after Columbus' most famous trip.At the very top of the monument stands a 7.2 m (24 ft) tall bronze statue atop a 40 m (131 ft) tall Corinthian column. The statue was sculpted by Rafael Atch?? and is said to depict Columbus pointing towards the New World with his right hand, while holding a scroll in the left. As it was sited, instead of pointing to the west towards the New World, the statue points east towards Columbus's supposed home city of Genoa. The statue is atop a socle, on which the word "Tierra" (land) is inscribed. [Wikipedia.org]

Santa Cruz de La Palma was the final stop of Cristopher Columbus (Cristobal Colón) in 1492 before his voyage to discover the New World. Nowadays in Santa Cruz is this replique of one of his ships - Santa María.

五寮尖又名鳳髻尖，標高639公尺，屬於插天山脈的東眼山支系上，位於三峽鎮湊合正西方。東北方有白雞山、雞罩山，隔著三峽河與之遙遙相望；東南方也有金敏子山、詩朗山，隔著大豹溪和五寮溪相對應；而其稜脈上的岩質非常堅硬，其地表有些岩石呈現出如海中的蜂巢岩。據此研判，此山在以前有可能是沉在海底中的，直至造山運動後才突出於地面的。而此山系為大豹溪及五寮溪的分水嶺，故其山脈亦被切割的十分陡峭與險峻。但由於攀登此山的交通非常方便，雖然縱走行程中有相當多的驚險畫面，但只要謹慎小心、提高警覺，其實是並不難走。
